Hot Honey and Pecan Avocado Cottage Cheese Toast Recipe
A Southern twist on the classic avocado toast—this version combines creamy cottage cheese, buttery avocado, toasted pecans, and a drizzle of spicy hot honey for the perfect balance of flavors and textures.
2slicesof thick-cut sourdough or whole grain bread
2tablespoonssoftened butter
⅓cupcottage cheese
1ripe avocadosliced or mashed
2teaspoonsfresh lime juice
¼cuptoasted pecansroughly chopped
1-2tablespoonshot honeyadjust to taste, or use regular honey
¼teaspoonflaky sea salt
¼teaspooncracked black pepper
Optional: A sprinkle of red pepper flakes or cayenne for extra heat
Instructions
Toast the Bread – Butter both sides of the bread and toast in a skillet over medium heat until it's golden brown on both sides.
Spread the cottage cheese – Divide the cottage cheese evenly between the two slices of toast.
Add the avocado – Mash the avocado and add lime juice. Spread it gently over the cottage cheese.
Sprinkle the pecans – Scatter the toasted pecans evenly over each slice.
Drizzle with hot honey – Drizzle a bit of hot honey over the top.
Season and serve – Sprinkle with flaky sea salt and cracked black pepper. If you want extra heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or cayenne.

Don't skip toasting the pecans - This brings out their natural sweetness and crunch. If your pecans aren't toasted, spread them out on a microwave safe plate and microwave in one-minute increments, tasting after each. It usually takes 2-3 minutes.Use good-quality, sturdy bread – A hearty slice makes all the difference.Drizzle, don’t drown – A little hot honey goes a long way!
